Following the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead, Anantnag Police, in close coordination with the Army, CRPF, and other security agencies, have intensified anti-terror operations across the district.

On April 22, terrorists targeted tourists at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, and injuring several others. In response, widespread cordon-and-search operations (CASOs) have been launched, with day and night raids conducted at multiple locations throughout Anantnag.

Authorities have detained around 175 suspects for questioning in a bid to dismantle terrorist support networks. Additional Mobile Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) have also been set up across the district to monitor suspicious movements and bolster public safety.

Security measures have been further tightened with intensified patrolling, ambush operations, and CASOs, especially in dense forest areas where terrorist presence is suspected.

Anantnag Police emphasized their commitment to restoring peace and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activity to the nearest police establishment.

Meanwhile, heightened security alerts have been issued in the Rajouri region. Security personnel are thoroughly checking vehicles along the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway, with large deployments aimed at preventing any further incidents.

Adding to the security efforts, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar on Friday for the first time since the attack. He reviewed the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and was briefed on the measures being taken to counter terrorist activities and Pakistan’s attempts to breach the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).
